We provide modular sanitation solutions, with a focus on technologies for the recovery of nutrients and water from human excreta and grey water.
Our Nutrient Harvester Technology, ecapsulates an on-site treatment process that transforms urine into a concentrated fertilizer. It can be used with urinals or urine-separating toilets, and it complements existing sanitation technologies for feces, greywater or mixed wastewater. Unlike the time consuming planning and installations of conventional wastewater treatment solutions, we provide prefabricated, standardised modules that can be configured to serve use-case specific needs.
Frontends
Differnt types of toilets and urinals, providing a separate urine outlet, can be connected to the Nutrient Harvester process.
Stage 1: Stabilization and buffering
By stabilising the liquid, pathogens are inactivated and a conversion of urea into ammonia is inhibited. This prevents the loss of the nutrient as well as the production of odours caused by volatile ammonia and organic degradation products.
Stage 2: Removal of pharmaceuticals (optional)
In an optional step, micro-pollutants such as drug residues are removed from the urine.
Stage 3: Volume reduction
Next, 95% of the water is separated from the nutrient. This yields a nutrient-rich concentrate and (non-potable) water that can be used on-site for plant irrigation or flushing.
Stage 4: Drying (optional)
Depending on the used case and on available recources, the nutrient concentrate can be further processed to optain a dry fertilizer product.
